The History of First Baptist Church Eagle River
On May 26, 1957, First Baptist Church of Eagle River began as Trinity Baptist Mission, a church plant of Grandview Baptist Church, Anchorage. The mission was constituted on February 23, 1958, and the name of the church was changed to Eagle River First Baptist Church. In April of 1989, the name was changed to its present name of First Baptist Church of Eagle River. In 1965, the current sanctuary was built with most of the work done by members of the church. On March 28, 1989, an additional 2.17 acres of land was purchased across the street from the church building on Monte Street. On the land was a 10,500 square foot building that had once been a bowling alley. The building was renovated into educational space and a fellowship hall with an adjacent kitchen.
First Baptist Church Eagle River planted the churches of Muldoon Road Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Birchwood (currently the Crossing) and was involved for a while with First Baptist Church of Palmer. Through the various ministries of the church over the years the people at First Baptist Church Eagle River have continued to look to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for guidance and to faithfully be good stewards of all he has provided for us.
